When I purchased PowerDVD 15 a few months ago it apparently also installed DivX and I'm not entirely sure what it does but possibly a codec? I only use PowerDVD 15 for watching BD's on my Windows 10 PC... do I need DivX? Can I uninstall it?

It's likely the DivX codec.
You can uninstall it if you like as it would have nothing to do with BD watching. -
I suspect DivX paid PowerDVD to include the 'extras'. That's not uncommon. Real used to do the same thing with their codec and player.
DivX apparently wants to distribute the whole package, but you only need the codec to play/encode to DivX format.
Usually when I install any software, I choose a 'custom' install if it's available where I can choose what 'extras' are added to my PC.
