    Hi

I bought a lite-on HDD 5045 and use it to record off air and the occasional VHS to DVD transfer. I had planned to use it to dupe all my vast VHS collection but its bloody involved and slow going.

Recently I bought an archos AV500 (100mb vers) for various reasons and realised I could dupe VHS directly into it and have all my VHS's as avi's.

Quality was watchable but not brilliant. Saying that I used the defaults built in and not an S-Video cable option. Likewise my VHS deck is probably somewhat shit.

So are there stand alone DivX HDD recorders worth using? There's several on ebay from the far east.

I'd love to see some screen grabs using these things but can't find so much as a review.

Reading some other threads there's a suggestion that specific VHS decks were vry good for image enhancement and playback. Maybe i should hunt one of those down too?

    Cheers

    M

  2. Well real time recordings in divx will never be better than lossless capture+divx convertion but i heard devices like convert X aren't bad.
