    I'm used to Magix Movie Edit Pro 12 and I now have TMPGEnc 4 Express to try.

    It seems completely different. Ican't see where to start my menu and lay out my chapters and background etc.

    Can anyone recommend a good tutorial?

    TMPGEnc Express is not a DVD authoring tool. It is for conversion or modifacations to your file.
    If you want authoring tool try TMPGEnc DVD Author.
