    Will converting a DVD to a single MPEG2 have any quality loss? I have some home video that I want to do some editing and some combining of disk but I want to get all the files on my computer first. Is there a recommended program for converting a DVD to a single MPEG2?

    I second that. VOB2MPG. I use it all the time to convert a DVD format to MPEG2 format with never a problem.

    Just to be clear, VOB2MPG isn't converting anything, it's just extracting out the MPEG from the VOB container, so no loss.
