I was trying to copy personal VHS tapes through the Pan. e80h when it kept giving me a copyright warning and would shut down. I bought the AVT-8710 to try and clear this up but I still get the copyright warning. Not sure what I am doing wrong. Any help is appreciated.

You will likely need a TBC or filter between the units. All DVR's and DVD recorders honor MV. Some units are also extremely sensitive and will trip on weak or jittery signals (like from an old VHS tape).

Yes, these are old home movies from the late 80's and early 90's. That's probably the problem. Isn't the AVT a TBC or is that wrong?

I connected the AVT between the VCR and the Panasonic, but when I go to record I still get the copyright message. I let a friend hook it up to their new recorder (Insignia) and the AVT never picked a setting. The lights just kept moving and there was no picture to the tv. I have no idea what I'm doing wrong.

You're right, the AVT is a TBC.
