This has been my worse nightmare.. i just cant do any of this conversion stuff

I have used programs but they just crash on me or just stuff doesn't work etc.. and im probably pissing everyone off here asking for help

I wondered if there was anyone out there who could do it for me?

I was thinking if they had an ftp server or something i could upload the clips to etc?

    Here is what needs doing..

    I have 2 clips - 160x120 - 41mb and 56mb

    I have another 3 clips - 320x240 - 1.6gb and 199mb and 5mb

I want to join all these together and just have one file......I will then replace the audio with a decent audio recording and then burn to a dvd.... but just getting 1 long clip would be a success

    *****

    OR

    ******

if someone could kindly write me a step by stepd guide telling me what programs to get and what to do..

    anybody? heh ?

    thanks people

    Ok try this first:

    https://www.videohelp.com/convert

Also you need to detail the type of files they are not just the length. Use gspot or avicodec to find out what they were encoded with.

Another thing - you may have a divx capable dvd player already. If so you could be able to just simply burn the files on to a data dvdr and then play them that way. Though with so many different video formats out there it's hit or miss on success rates.

Try an all in one tool like super or even a trial run of tmpgenc dvd author 3 which now will convert internet video into a dvd for you - though its payware but comes with a trial.

Try downloading WinAVI Video Converter ...free trail download... although limited functions
it should convert your small clips to DVD. At least it will get you used to some converting proccess.

    http://www.winavi.com/en/video-converter/video-converter.htm

The program that came with your DVD burner should edit your clips, or ask someone to borrow theirs. Failing that try a free trail download of Ulead® VideoStudio

    http://www.ulead.com/vs/

Remember everybody has to learn and its not that hard with right programs.

videohelp forums helped me no end in my early editing days.

As I asume you have the files aready on your computer, make them straight to mpeg 2 or dvd ......

Capture into AVI when putting clips into the computer from another source, such as a camcorder or vcr tape recorder, then convert to DVD

Frankly I wouldn't use WinAVI in a fit, and I wouldn't use ConvertXtoDVD for this job either. ConvertXtoDVD will only output full-D1. Given you have postage stamp video to start with, blowing it up to 4 and 8 times the original size will make look horrible. You should target VCD resolution on DVD to preserve what little quality you can.

No. Simplest would be to use Tmpgenc Plus to encode them all to VCD resolution (using the VCD template) then use mpeg tools (part of Tmpgenc Plus) to join them.

You can add any audio you like when you author with a decent authoring tool. Nero is not a decent authoring tool so it may not be able to do this, and will probably re-encode your video.

  10. TMPGEnc Plus has audio/video muxing and demuxing tools.

If your individual sources are AVI files and you have audio files ready for each one you can use VirtualDUb to replace the audio with a WAV files, or VirtualDubMod to replace with AC3, MP2 or MP3 files.

Those appear to be MJPEG format from a digital camera. Windows Movie Maker should accept them. But WMM only outputs WMV or DV AVI.

With TMPGEnc, you may need a MJPEG codec to open them, not sure. TMPGEnc may need the VFAPI priority raised. See here down the page a bit for 'Problem opening source files:. http://www.digitalfaq.com/dvdguides/convert/tmpgenc/tmpgenc.htm

Or try SUPER and convert them separately to VCD MPEG-1 format, no audio. Then you can add your own audio in when you author. Or convert the audio also with SUPER if you want to use it. Since they are low resolution, MPEG-1 is probably fine. For a DVD, they will have to be a standard resolution, framerate and compatible audio. See 'WHAT IS' DVD to the upper left for DVD format and specifications.

If you have TMPGEnc DVD Author, that will accept the DVD compliant separate clips and you can add the audio files separately and it will make them all play as a single video.

Or you can use the freeware GUI for dvdauthor. It accepts separate video and audio also.

  18. Hey couldn;'t he add borders to the postage stamp sized vids with Vdub? Just to make them the same width and height? Then, he could use Nero (even if using Nero is blasphemy around here ) to merge them.
    Just my two öre.

I didn't read the whole tread, sorry if thats already been addressed.

how do i merge with nero?

  20. wow, do you have a bell on this thing or something?
how did you reply in the same minute as i?
I meant using Nero Vision Express from Nero 6. I thought u had used that before? It's like 35 mb. to download, trialware or something.

As long you don't have to add subtitles, Nero is IMHO the best for the job.
You don't have to learn much, actually nothing at all, it's all drag and drop.
Nero Vision Express doesn't really care if it's AVI or Mpeg either, or what size, I must admit I have never tried to add videos that small.

But yeah, that's not "REAL" DVD-authoring in the opinion of some around here, so they'll look down upon you and yell at you.

You could use VirtualDub to add and delete sound from an AVI, as long as its sound is CBR and not VBR, you can do that.
Do u know how to add borders in VirtualDub?
