I've been trying to follow the "How to capture to AVI in realtime" guide and get very good quality captures unless there is fast motion in the scene being captured. Then the resolution seems to get blocky. I have the frame rate set to 29.97 and have tried to follow the How 2s except for the following 2 issues.
Problem 1: I can't select YUY2 in VirtualDub. I get a unsupport format or something. And have to stick with the default which I think is supplied with the capture card.
Problem 2: I have installed Huffyuv but it is not visible in capture mode. I can see it in Video compression before I go into capture mode.
Is this problem a function of my capture card?

Huffyuv will only be available for your vid capture if the format you have selected (ie YUV, etc) is supported by it. Try selecting different types of output, and you'll see your codecs availability change per the format.
