That depends on the source format. Is the camera HDV or AVCHD?

If its HDV, then it should be enough with few to no problems. If it's AVCHD, it may be enough to edit, but it might not be enough to do it in Real-Time.

That's a fast machine and may be overkill if money is a factor. Define the HD formats you intend to edit. That class of machine is common for editing uncompressed HD (SMPTE-292 I/O). If that is the case, you are missing the SDI interface cards and the external or internal RAID Video Server.

The RTX2 has a detailed list of supported hardware. You are taking a risk using other than certified systems. You will spend more time engineering the system vs. editing. Matrox support will point at you for screwing up the system.

The RTX2 is a native MPeg2 or DV format card and is not capable of uncompressed editing as far as I know. It is well matched to HDV/XDCAM but converts uncompressed SDI to I frame MPeg2 which is lossy. I see no listed support for MPeg4 based formats. Those would need conversion to MPeg2.

So it comes down to which formats you want to edit and if the RTX2 meets your edit processing and quality needs.
