Hello!
I am planing to buy this Pioneer DVD player:
Pioneer DV 696 AV
Before I order it, i have some question:
I have many mpeg 2 files, they nearly all have these settings:
Video track:
Frame size, aspect_ratio_information: 480X576, 25.000 fps 40000 (us)
Fps, # of frames: 197459 (2:11:41)
Avergae bitrate: 687 kbps (84KB/s)
Audio track:
Format: 44 KHz stereo, 128 Kbps layer 2
# of frames: 302504
Can the Pioneer DV 696 AV play the mpeg 2 files, that I descrepted above, without that I have to convert the mpeg 2 file into an UDF file?
On this page:
https://www.videohelp.com/dvdplayers?DVDname=Pioneer+DV+696&Search=Search&dvdportable=&...y=Name&hits=50
a user (letovod from Czech Republic reported December 20, 2006writes in his command this:
To play DivX, mpeg2, ... on DVD make them UDF
Does that mean that I have to convert each from my mpeg 2 files into an UDF file, before I can play the mpeg 2 file on the Pioneer DV 696 AV?
On this page:
https://www.videohelp.com/dvdplayers?DVDname=Pioneer+DV+696&Search=Search&dvdportable=&...y=Name&hits=50
also is writen, that the Pioneer DV 696 AV can play MPEGISO and DVD-MPEGISO. Does that mean, that I can play my mpeg 2 files with the above settings, without converting?
This user (Raymond from Netherlands reported June 26, 2006commands:
Does that mean, that I have to convert each DVD movie with mp3 sound to an UDF file, before I can view them?Good player for a good price! To play DVD with mp3 you have to make them UDF!!
On this page:
https://www.videohelp.com/faq#mpegiso
I found this description what MPEGISO and DVD-MPEGISO files are:
When I follow the above explanation then I can play mpeg 2 files without converting them into an UDF file before I can play them, or am I wrong with that? What is MPEG1/2 ISO in the DVD Players list?
MPEG1/2 ISO is if your standalone DVD Player supports MPEG1(VCD), MPEG2(SVCD,DVD) or/and VOB(DVD) files with no authoring, like you are able to select any MPG/MPEG/MPV/VOB files from the CD/DVD using a file browser and play them.
In my Nero Burning Rom programm I can burn an mpeg 2 file on/to an DVD-ROM (UDF) or on/to an DVD-Rom (UDF/ISO)
But I donīt know of my mpeg 2 files are allreaddy in this format: MPEGISO or DVD-MPEGISO or UDF
Can somone recognize from my following mpeg 2 files descreption is one of these formats: MPEGISO or DVD-MPEGISO or UDF?:
Video track:
Frame size, aspect_ratio_information: 480X576, 25.000 fps 40000 (us)
Fps, # of frames: 197459 (2:11:41)
Avergae bitrate: 687 kbps (84KB/s)
Audio track:
Format: 44 KHz stereo, 128 Kbps layer 2
# of frames: 302504
How can I see (with which programm?) of my mpeg 2 files are in one of these formats: MPEGISO or DVD-MPEGISO or UDF?
About an help from you I would be very glad and that would be very nice.
Friendly Greetings from
Moe Perry

The type of burning doesn't have to do with how the files are encoded or how the images are authored.
Beyond that, in the wrost scenario, you just rip again your DVD to your PC and burn it again in a different way.
I own this DVD player. It has a great scaler, can be turn region free easily and playback wonderfull my DVDs and my XviDs, which I burn them as data on CDs or DVD-Rs. HDMI support HDCP and work with no problems. I suggest it, is great for it's price.
Beyond that, buy a DVD-RW and start experement an bit with your files. It doesn't harm and after all, this is a hobby, right? Experements are part of the fun!
