G'day all
Could anyone please tell me if a MB GA-8S648FX-775(-C) would take a E6600 processor. It would match the 755 pins but, would it run well? The MG can support ram:
Memory ? 3 DDR DIMM memory slots (supports up to 3GB memory)
Supports DDR400/DDR333/DDR266 DIMM
Supports up to 2 unbuffered DIMM DDR400
Supports up to 3 unbuffered DIMM DDR333
Supports only 2.5V DDR DIMM
Enough to run W732
==========
Currently runs:
Type : Intel Pentium 4
Internal Specification : Intel(R) Pentium(R) 4 CPU 3.20GHz
A0 : Empty
A1 (RAS 3, RAS 4) : 1024 (Double Bank)
ÃËh (RAS 0, RAS 9) : 512 (Double Bank)
Thanks for any replies.
John

That motherboard is not compatible with an E6600 CPU according to http://www.gigabyte.com/support-downloads/cpu-support-popup.aspx?pid=1890

Thanks, usually_quiet
I'll keep it as it is for a while. I can always use the shell to put something bigger in it in the future if I needed to. I have a dual core 64bit system with 8GB Ram to do the heavy stuff and that is enough for me at the moment.
I rarely do any Cad Cam Programming now, I'm a 70 year old bugger, but I still enjoy a little or big brain challenge from time to time.
Thanks, mate
John
