when nero creates an image to burn a dvd, where does it put it?

they are taking up massive space on my hard drive, i just know it
but i can't find them to delete them?
i need to get rid of them so i can burn more dvds because the old images are taking up too much room for me to do ANYTHING

I believe it puts it on the dvd. After burning you're given the opportunity to save the project. But if you choose yes, you're just saving a "temp" file, not the project you just burned.

Try going to Start-> Run-> then type %temp%. Look for Nero looking files NVE ect. I just found 2GB's there myself.

Something else that might help: If the images are still on your hard drive, a program called WinDirStat gives a good visual representation of what's taking up space and should allow you to locate them.



Size of the blocks indicates file size, color represents file type. Should be pretty easy to spot large image files with it. It's freeware from Sourceforge. Homepage and download link is here:

It takes it a minute or two to index your drive, depending on how much is on it. To use, just click on a block in the bottom window. I've clicked on the red one on the left side , which is an iso image file. The highlight in the upper-left window will focus on that file. From there, you can right-click on the file name in that upper-left window to delete it if you want. It looks a lot better full-screen, of course; I've shrunk it down a lot.

I think the default extension for Nero images is .nrg unless you've changed it. You may need to unclick the "Hide extensions for known file types" box in Windows Explorer to see them if you haven't already (Tools > Folder Options > View).
