Hi,
I'm looking for a way to create a DVD which will have a title menu - but start playing first title right away..
Using GUI for dvdauthor it is straigth forward to create the largest part - but I always end up with the DVD showing title menu as initial action.
..if I change menu action to play first title - this happens also when I select menu ... taht is - it start playing from beginning every time i press menu.
Using IFOEdit I can change the default 'First Play PGC' from 'jumping to first titleset menu' to 'jump to first title'... This works fine and solves the problem - BUT - how can i make GUI for dvdauthor setting this as wanted right away ???
..anyone ??

There are several possibilities for this task...
It highly depends on how the final result should look like, and the used authoring engine (muxman/dvdauthor).
There is no 'default switch' for this in GfD, but you can use the 'Edit author.xml file before DVD creation process' functionality to change the FPC setting in the control file.
The most simple approach would be to jump over the title menu (see 'Autostart DVD' in the help), and use the titlesetmenu as the only menu (but then pressing the 'Title menu' button on your remote would again restart the film). A more advanced possibility would be to use a register (g5 or GPRM5) which is set in the 'pre' command of the first title and checked in the 'pre' command of the main menu. If set to <> 0, show the menu; if =0 jump to the first title.GUI for dvdauthor:

Or, just "fix" it in PGCEdit after authoring the DVD using GfD. Trace past the menu to the movie and make that the first-play. Then you'll only see the menu after the movie completes:
This method allows you to jump to any menu or title on insertion of your DVD, setting the audio and subtitle streams of your choice and by-passing anything in your way (e.g. annoying FBI warnings, studio promos and Dolby Digital trailers) and having all the DVDs internal registers set exactly as they would be if the commands followed the original path. -
...I followed guide...
What exactly have you done?
I supposed several possibilities...
Therefore I need more info to help you.
In general:
The use of a 'jump over the main menu' and/or checking a register is possible to be saved. A manual change in the control file not. Normally the FPC is set automatically by GfD depending on the 'Use Intro' setting. Maybe I will add the possibility to set it to the first title too (without an intro).GUI for dvdauthor:

3) goes straight to Closing Clip for the disc (sort of the opposite of an Intro --
can't think of what you'd call this at the moment)
If I can do this with this program, that would be great. When in Las Vegas, don't miss the Pinball Hall of Fame Museum http://www.pinballmuseum.org/ -- with over 150 tables from 6+ decades of this quintessentially American art form. -
well you've had more sucess than me,
i was trying to do the same thing, with only one title set, then have it come back to the menu after the movie played, but auto start when inserted in the DVD player.
I got zero sucess and gave up

1) DVD immediately starts playing an intro when inserted
then goes to
2) Selections Menu (of individual Titles)
That's easy (it is more or less the 'standard' case)
...goes straight to Closing Clip
This is also possible, with only very little 'scripting'.
You need to add this Closing Clip like any 'normal' title, hide the button and set a post command for the 'real' title to jump to this Closing Clip instead of the menu. Or just use an animated menu as 'Closing Clip'.GUI for dvdauthor:
