i'm gonna get a dvd-r drive soon so i can capture tv and save it forever without losing quality but i don't want to spend major time encoding big AVIs so i'm wondering if there's a specific format other than making the file mpeg2/48,000Khz that i need to be aware of. can't i just capture to mpeg2 at 780X480 and just choose a bitrate that meets my needs? the file doesn't need to be variable bitrate does it? i know a variable bitrate is more space efficient but NOT time efficient.
thankya
