After it's done i try yo open the file with dvd shrink but now I have this error

DVD shrink encountered an error and cannot continue, Invalid DVD navigation structure

Does anyone khow how can I fix this or what software that I could use to shrink and burn it properly

    thanx

Could you be a little more vague about the error message ?

How did you rip the disc in the first place ?
Perhaps you need to rip it again with better tools ?

  4. I am not the one who rip the DVD so I cannot rip it again
I must try (if possible) to fix the thing with the file I have on my hand

I could not get again the error message because FixVTS did some change on the original files and the first error was gone. But to give you the exact message I re-extracted the content of the original iso file.
here it is: DVD Shrink encontered an error and cannot continu, Invalid data in file D:\dvd\VIDEO_TS\VTS_02_7.VOB

I will give your software a try to see if it work
do not hesitate to recommand me some program that are not free if they are good

You could also try extracting the video and audio contents and re-authoring

  6. When I try to shrink a VIDEO_TS folder of a DVD i have error about 75% of the time

These VIDEO_TS folder are not rip by me and they are done by differents software.
I know these are good because they play properly in windows media player and if I try to burn them directly to double layer DVD everything work fine.

I try DVD rebuilder but there I cannot setup the software to compress to a specific size, remove extra to save space.

Can you help me with DVD rebuilder or give another suggestion of software.
I am willing to spend money. So it does not to be a free one.

dvdshrink is giving me too much problem so I must find another solution.

    thanx for your help

All of the standard software that plays DVDs on a PC has built in error-correction, and most of this software is quite good at ignoring any structural errors. For example, if there is physical damage to a disc or a ripped version of a disc, most of the players (such as Media Player, or Nero Showtime, or Media Player Classic, or RealPlayer, or Roxio) will examine the frames prior to the bad spots, and also the frames that follow the bad spots, and see if it can then reconstruct the missing data well enough just to let it play. The players' job is to PLAY the material, even if it is full of errors. If there are problems with the way the DVD was "authored," with menus that point to nothing, or with bogus blank video, most of the players will just ignore such things. Even if the DVD is not very compliant, or even if it breaks most of the "rules" of DVD authoring, most players will still let them play. That is their job.

DVDShrink is different. It demands that a DVD (or a DVD rip on a hard drive) be 100% compliant, and free of errors. It demands that all pointers and instructions be in place. It demands that every single bit and byte be perfectly readable. Most of the better ripping programs out there are similar. DVDDecrypter is also very picky about such things, and so are most others. The authors of most rippers realize that a truly workable duplicate must follow all of the normal rules of DVD creation, and yet it should also pick up every single bit and byte, or "1" and "0."

I have seen many, many cases (perhaps close to a hundred) where a disc would PLAY fine, but DVDShrink would choke. Many were due to scratches, or dirt on a bad disc. Many others were due to some flaw in the authoring or the "structure" of what it was trying to read.

Hope this helps in understanding the true nature of your problem with THIS case.

Windows Media Player is probably the worst to use to judge the integrity of a ripped DVD. That you did not rip it yourself and don't have access to the original leads me to believe you have downloaded this from somewhere. There have been many posts over the years from people who have downloaded DVD ISOs only to find they were ripped by chimps with little or no idea how to do it properly, and are left with discs that cannot be burned or edited nicely because they are butchered at a structural level.

DVD Rebuilder does allow you to remove extras, and you can also compress certain features to half-D1 resolution. Perhaps you need to spend a little more time learning how it works.

You could also try running the disc through FixVTS (if you can find a copy) and then trying Shrink.

I suspect guns1nger is dead on and this was a downloaded DVD. I would like to point out that if this is the case that it doesn't take much for you to have problems. If you got it from a P2P network, I've seen files get corrupted for one reason or another and then what you have is that everybody is then sharing a corrupted version of the file and they all have the same problem. If you download from Usenet, without PAR files to do error correction there is no chance at all of downloading a DVD and have it all be OK. No chance at all. If this is what happened to you, you will either have to find another source for downloading the file that isn't corrupted or you could just buy it if it's not some hard to get foreign DVD.

Grab pgcedit , and load the title , and see what it says about it .

Its possible it may find the problem and beable to correct it without much fuss .

Its more likely an issue with newer protection scheme used which was not removed initially .

Dvdfab dvddecrypter is what should have been used , if it was a rip .
Downloaded from online source is another thing .

    ----

Vobblanker can help with the removal of unwanted content .

    ----

The one that got missed by all :

Its alread in "iso" ... then burn it with imgburn .

Yes , windows media player will play from iso fine , in most case's ... But not the most highly recommended program to use .

    ====

You could also use pgcedit , as in .

    A: New dvd
B: Import main title (copy is prefered)
    C: Save
D: Use dvdshrink to trim title
E: Reopen new title in pgcedit
    F: Import menu (copy)
G: Carry out basic navigational links for correct play back
    H: Save
I: Playback new edited title (if error , correct navs in pgcedit)
J: Playback fine ... then burn with imgburn
