    When I originally installed my PVR150 on my old computer, I needed the tweek tool to solve certain audio and sharpness issues ... which it did. On my new system, however, I installed the most recent drivers and the most recent WinTV2000 application. The driver version installed is 2.48.24227. There is a note on the tweek tool page accented in red saying:

    Please Note that with the recent pvr 150/500 driver (higher then 23074), the audio settings have changed and therefore don't work anymore. I will, as soon as I have some spare time update the tool, but untill then I highly recommend that you don not use these setting, please refer to the registry website for the update reg keys.
    I'm making the assumption that Hauppauge has not corrected the audio and sharpness issues with their card. Correct me if I'm wrong. But if I'm not wrong, what registry website does that note refer to??? Also, if anyone knows the person who created the tweek tool, could you ask them when the tool will be updated to take new driver settings into account???

    Well, it addressed the video issue. According to the poster there, the video problems were addressed by the new driver but not the audio issues. However, the poster gave a link to this Hauppauge UK page:

    http://www.hauppauge.co.uk/board/showthread.php?t=9083

    But, there's a problem. Here's the audio fix recommended:

    Note: To make this easier, please use the attached HcwAmity2_Audio_LineIn.zip file.

    The distortion is caused by the ALC/Limiter function of the card. You can disable ALC and the Limiter by setting:

    [HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SYSTEM\CurrentControlSet\Servic es\hcwPP2\DriverData]
    "8775Reg17"=dword:0000008e
    "8775Gain2"=dword:000000c9
    "8775Gain3"=dword:000000c9

    You can adjust the gain to suit your source by changing 8775Gain2 and 8775Gain3. Start with c9. If it's too loud, start going down in value (c0, b0, a0 etc.). If it's too quiet, start going up in value (d0, e0, f0). Reboot in between changes or disable/enable the card via Device Manager in between changes.
    The [HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SYSTEM\CurrentControlSet\Servic es\hcwPP2\DriverData] path doesn't exist in my registry ... nor are there any entries relative to 8775Gain2 or 8775Gain3 anywhere to be found in my registry.

    Perhaps these are registry entries that can only be seen in XP/Vista registries (I use Win2K Pro SP4) ... or have to be "added" to the current registry. Or, perhaps (unlikely) the Hauppauge files didn't install all the way. Of course if that were true, there would have been complaints by now - and I've not seen any.

    In any case, I've sent an email to Chris - the author of that page on the Hauppauge UK site - and will see what he says.

    Thanks for pointing me in the right direction.

    EDIT - I spoke to soon when I said I emailed Chris. To reach him, I first had to become a member of the Hauppauge UK forum. Well, I registered and the site told me an email had been sent to me for activation ... but the email never arrived (sigh). If anyone else has the answer (or belongs to that forum and can refer Chris to this post), I'd appreciate it.
