um can u be more specific??
because, when u say I am able to enter the menu on stand-by I have no idea what the hell you are talking about.
Luckily I know what u are talking about. But im confused about your remote, is this a universal remote or the default remote that Sony supplied you with. If it is the supplied remote, I am surprised that it doesnt have numbers on it. But really, sorry to say, but you need that remote, unless the DVD player itself has numbers on the front. Just like playing a VCD with a menu, you have to push 1, instead of play.(or for me atleast)What the Fuc is the internet? -
Ok, so if you have a remote that works with the NS-300 (i've got a DVP-s7000 remote that works with it. ) Once you get into service mode, what are the key sequences to disable Macrovision or Region protection.

I've also got the uk model (as I'm in the uk) the standard remote for the NS300 (in the uk) has no numbers on it, the track select is meant to be via the up/down arrow keys at the bottom of remote - which is pretty crap when trying to select a menu option from a VCD.
Anyway, I spent hours trying to find keys combinations that would work (sad - maybe) in order to disable macrovision, and no luck.
I did find that the enter on the bottom of the remote = 0, previous track button = 1, next track = 2 and as "shuffla" stated, play = 3. After that I'm stuck, if anyone finds the key combination can you post please.
For whose that have numbers, where is the macrovision disable option ? so that I know what menu I'm aiming for !!
I can now only suggest either borrowing a mates sony DVD remote and see if it works or spending £20 on a programmable remote that handles DVD. -
Sorry, but it is my understanding that with nearly all Sony DVD players, you can not disable macrovision or change regions without a hardware mod. The Title-Clear-Power thing is just some diagnostics and status indicators...you can't really change anything usefull.

I came to the same conclusion
, I searched around the net a lot, came across another DVD tech site that bacially said the same thing. The standby, title, clear, power just brings up the diagnostics menu, it says that if you mess about in here you will screw up your DVD player and that you cant change macrovision or region codes from here.
From my research it seems you cant disable macrovision, and you can only disable the region code via a special dealer remote (apparently) - posting pointed to a site http://www.dvdchips.co.uk/ that does these, no I aint plugging this site - never used them nor heard of them before.
