I've been having all kinds of weird errors too since I started using 2.5. The latest one is listed as a memory error of some sort. I assure you that I'm not having any type of hardware issues. I've run the memory tests and I've run other multiple system taxing programs at the same time that would likely reveal any problems quicker than SVCD2DVD running by itself.

    Version: SVCD2DVD 2.5
    Build: 2.5.2733.35023

    Type: System.AccessViolationException

    Source: SVCD2DVD

Message: Attempted to read or write protected memory. This is often an indication that other memory is corrupt.

It came up with this popup error twice and after acknowledging it, it continued on until it just crashed entirely.

And that's where the log ends because then it just aborted itself out. Of course I then ran the source files through another DVD creation program and it had no problem with them. I'm probably going to go back to 2.1 until the dusts settles on 2.5.

Just this particular file? Have you tried other conversions since this problem?

Have you tried processing "RM312.avi" by itself to see if the file has an issue?
Or try the run again with all files but "RM312.avi".

**actually, just try to build a DVD with the S2D.mpg assets, excluding "RM312.avi" and see if it completes.**

it creates a sd2.mpg file with 0bytes, and tries to proces the avi file, I watched the avi file fine, and also tries a divx file as well as a mpeg to no avail.

I also had the memory error, as well a ffmpeg error , earlier versions worked fine, until I loaded the newest one posted

I'll give that a try tomorrow with the mpg assets excluding RM312. I really don't think the RM312 file is the problem. I had the memory popup errors when it was processing RM306 and RM311. As I said, I was able to acknowledge them and they went away and the program continued until it got to RM312 and then it just died.

I decided to remove SVCD2DVD to try a re-install, now I get this:

I get this after I add the asset, then I select the Quick DVD and burn, that error message pops up right away, and I do have it set in options to convert PAL to NTSC

I'm getting the same result as above since moving to v2.5. It seems to be when converting PAL to NTSC. I can render movies I have made, in MPEG NTSC format, with no problems. But other people's PAL movies - no way.

During processing, all the files are made - the .mpv and .mpa files then, after the

"Done: Processing assets for DVD creation"
    "Authoring DVD Folders"

messages appear in the Log window, it throws the error shown above by Chucky 246 and all the files thatit created have gone.

    Thanks Chris,

The registered users download page is still showing 2.5.2728, which I have. Is the download actually .2733 or am I in the wrong place?

The actual download you need is 2733 - which is the one on the website.... I just have yet to update the text on the page

Well, that's pretty par for the course lately... I just re-ran the entire conversion with ALL the same files and I didn't get an error or a lockup and it came out beautiful. I don't get it. Believe me, if it was someone else with the intermittent SVCD2DVD 2.5 problems I'd be the first one to point a finger at hardware problems but I know that's not it for me. I've checked everything and the only program I'm having any kind of problem with is 2.5. This last time when it failed, it was running all by itself. This time when it worked, I was downloading some torrents and surfing the web as it worked. Go figure!

OK, downloaded and installed the latest version (2733), now the program actually crashes (Send/Don't Send Error Report box opens), as soon as I set it to create the DVD.

It says it can't find the xxxxxS2D.mpg file - which it won't be able to as it hasn't made it yet.

I'm going to play around with the settings and see if I can get different results. In the mean time, I'll stick to v2.1 which has worked wonderfully for me over the past couple of years (and still does btw).

    * Just a thought - I'm using the custom matrices from the zip file on this forum - will they work with 2.5? I'll try without them.

    I rebooted, same thing:

    Version: SVCD2DVD 2.5
    Build: 2.5.2738.32021

    Type: System.IO.FileNotFoundException

    Source: mscorlib

Message: Could not find file 'E:\Rips\p-f4_S2D.mpg'.

    at System.Threading.ThreadHelper.ThreadStart_Context( Object state)
at System.Threading.ExecutionContext.Run(ExecutionCon text executionContext, ContextCallback callback, Object state)
    at System.Threading.ThreadHelper.ThreadStart()

I try to close that error window, it pops up 3 times, then the last time it closes SVCD2DVD

also, I don't have explorer open, no other app running in the process.

I'm not sure this helps or not, but there was a new update for >NET Framework:

    Update for .NET Framework 3.0: x64 (KB932471)

I just ran a mega-test with 2738 and it worked perfectly.

Two VTS assets, PAL to NTSC and Two-Pass encoding plus Auto-Fit from 8Gb to 4.7.

The box is an Acer Aspire which originally came with Windows Vista Home Premium, (spit), but I "upgraded" it to XP Pro SP2, which I had been running on my earlier box.
