I think this question might be for someone like Budz . . . .
I have several Pioneer burners, different models. Today, I was flashing a spare 109, after I discovered that it was still at the very old 1.17 fw level. (I've tried to have recent, region-free, most-limitations-removed fw on all of my burners. Haven't trashed one yet, and hey, the most you could lose these days if you did toast one is about 50 bucks.) I just never liked seeing those "You have 3 changes left !" warnings from the burner. So, I had downloaded fw 1.50B from Flash's repository, and 1.58 from The Dangerous Bros., deciding to try my luck with 1.50B first, in the hope that I could always jump to the later one if necessary. It has been quite awhile since I flashed one of these, and I was glad to read that you can now do this over a USB connection.

Anyway, I'm getting to the question. My recollection is that there used to be a lot more info at the d/l site, regarding just what fixes or changes you were getting with a given fw update. I have read the Changelog, but they no longer seem to mention things like Region Free, riplock defeated, enabling of DVD-Ram. Is that now all to be assumed and taken for granted, with these later firmwares from Flash or TDB ?[/b] Are the fw guys just dodging pressure from the MPAA or something, figuring that less info is wiser ?
When in Las Vegas, don't miss the Pinball Hall of Fame Museum http://www.pinballmuseum.org/ -- with over 150 tables from 6+ decades of this quintessentially American art form.

All the changes were mentioned when the patched firmwares were posted, eg. in cdf or rpc1 forum.

I w/_chef_ that all the changes are mentioned at the PIONEER FORUM at Cdfreaks.com or at the FIRMWARE INDEX forum. You'll have to check out those forums if you have any questions.
