    Hello,

Anyone know of a utility that can boost the audio dB level in an MP4 type video file while leaving the video untouched?

    Thanks,

mp3DirectCut or mpTrim may work for that.

Sorry, those were audio only programs.

Here's a link to a guide for normalizing audio for AVIs: https://forum.videohelp.com/topic314909.html

I would try this ( hope i explain it correctly )

use super to do an audio only file, use the volume increase option

use avidemux2 to add the new audio stream as a second stream, then delete the first stream and export/process /save the file , with video 'stream copy' on

you get a new avi with the original video stream and the new audio stream

  6. SUPER is unnecessary.
You can use gain filter in Avidemux.

I can modify the Avi_Gain batch file to work with MP4 containers, but I'm in a bit of a lazy mood. I'll do it if you're modifying more than 1 file,

Thanks to all for taking the time to reply.

FYI: the file is Xvid which I believe is considered an MP4 container.

I'll play around with AVIdemux to see how that works.

Will report back in a couple of days.

AVIDemux2 worked great. I was able to down convert the audio on my 6 channel AC3 Xvid AVI video file to a simple stereo boosted by about 1 dB. I then saved the file normally and the old audio track was replaced by the new audio track on the AVI video file.

    Thanks,
