  1. Hello All,
I'm kinda new to this stuff, so please, if I come out sounding retorical or idiotic, I do apologize in advance. But here's the deal:

Over the past 4 years I've been having problems with Cd-R / DVD-R 's just out of nowhere stopping with their process of burning dvd's. I will run Nero, and then out of nowhere I will notice a trend in that my blank media stops becoming recognized after a while. So what I end up doing is going off and replacing said unit with a new one. However, due to the fact I've been just doing the fast swap on top of the fact I have a Sony Dual Layer DVD-R which I can't in good economic polcy just go out and replace, I'm currently trying to figure out what type of errors could go and make a dvd / cd burner just stop recognizing the media.

I'm pretty sure that this is gonna be a long haul process, but if I can in any way salvage this thing, I'm going to have to do my best to get it working. For now I'm going to try and find out about updating the drivers and what not, but in the mean time, if anyone else has gone through this as well, please let me know.

    BTW, Hello All....

First, make sure your burner has the latest firmware. That's the way a burner keeps pace with the release of new media.

  3. Thanks mate, but in my idiocy I failed to recognize the easiest awnser. I was aparently trying to make an ISO image instead of burning to cd... However, I look at the cd and it shows the discolorization that would in effect apply the idea that data has been burnt to dvd, but my computer won't recognize it just yet. It might be because I just burnt the dvd and or what not. We'll see though.

    Thanks
