Program for basic DVD authoring

I want to perform only simple tasks - to add / remove adio stream or subtitle stream to a DVD, to delete advertisment or other unnecessary parts, to shrink a DVD and to convert an AVI to DVD.

Is there any simple program which can perform these tasks? Now I'm using Sonic scenarist, but I don't like it - it's monstrous and also it's for professionals and I'm just an user. And it can't work without DVDReauthor and Subtitle Creator and I don't know what else. Also my tasks can be done with DVD Decrypter, IfoEdit, Muxman, PgcDemux, Subtitle Tool, Subtitle Workshop, SubtitleCreator, VobBlan as described in https://www.videohelp.com/guides/category/how-to-add-subtitles-to-a-video-5;20#815, but id'want a SINGLE program to perform these tasks

For your editing needs:

In a single program - DVD Remake Pro (not free).

In 2 free programs - PgcEdit and VobBlanker.

For conversion and transcoding, you will need other solutions. For DVD->DVD, you can't go past DVD Rebuilder. For AVIs, I like Procoder, but it is very pricey. Virtual Dub and its variants or DVD Flick might be more up your alley.

So, when I want for example to add a subtitle stream from *.srt to a DVD and I have DVD Remake Pro, I needn't launch any other program? All operations will be performed in DVD Remake Pro?

DVDShrink and GuiforDVDAuthor will do everything you have mentioned, simple, easy, and FREE. Plus DVDFabDecryptor, also simple, easy, and FREE.

SFAIK there is no single program which will do what you want. Think Swiss Army Knife, do you really need all the tools in one package that badly? Have you ever actually used the corkscrew, scissors, and phillips screwdriver on a Swiss Army Knife? If so, is there any question that a seperate corkscrew, scissors, and screwdriver is better?

Adding a subbie stream will require a remux. I like muxman for this.

Nelson37, I think in this case all the tasks may be except conversion are of one sort - i'd call it "Correcting bad quality DVD films", so it's not like Swissor Army Knife. And it'be cool to have one tool for this and not to have to launch 10 programs for one task (I mean subbie adding as described in guides on this site)

If the video quality is bad and you want to try and fix it, you have to reencode. This calls for an MPEG-2 encoder. If you want to add subs to an already existing DVD, you have to demux before adding them. Then if the authoring app doesn't take that format of subs, you'll have to convert. For example, if you add the subs using Muxman, following blutach's excellent suggestion, you'll first have to convert them to SUP format (SubtitleCreator and other ways). It's in your best interests to have and know how to use many different programs. The more all-in-one a single program is, generally, the worse it is at any single task. Sort of jack-of-all-trades-but-master-of-none.

What you asked for in your first post not only doesn't exist, but was a silly request to have made in the first place.
