hey, I was just wondering what's a good type of harddrive to get? and what does all that ATA 100, ATA 66 stand for?
and what's a good seek time I should look for in hard drives?

When using for capturing, your best choice would be using SCSI-IIIuw (disks going over 10000rpm) and if possible, configured into RAID-5.
But because only big company's can afford this, for consumer I would suggest to get a fast system with onboard ATA-100 IDE's. Currently there are disks (IDE) available at 7200 rpm (ATA-100), which are extremely fast (so best choice for home-capturing). Be sure, if you're going to buy them, to get disks at high of possible sizes (I've got 1x40Gb and 1x60Gb = just good enough for extremely capturing).
