Out of Sync after burning ??

Hi all,

I have a problem with my xVCD after burning. After encoding to xVCD with TMPGEnc, I can view the MPEG with Win Media Player and it all looks fine. After I cut the file and burn them onto (2) discs, when I play it on my DVD player the audio goes more and more out of sync.

To test this I fast forwarded it to about 30 mins through. Could it being a problem with using FF as the encoded file looks ok in Win Media Player.

I will try playing the file from the beginning without FF'ing it to see if I still have the problem. Any advice in the mean time wil be much appreciated tho'...

Which DVD player do you have? I had horrible troubles playing (played fine on computer but played progressively out of sync on my Apex 1500)some downloaded .mpgs that were supposed to be compliant.. ones that I burned directly to VCD. After some talk and deliberation, I found that it was the simpleset of things... My downloads were PAL and my Apex was trying to play them as NTSC.

On my Apex there is an option to switch to PAL, but my TV does not support it. In the end, I had to rip the .dat off of my VCD and turn it into an .mpg. Then I reencoded the file with TMPGEnc as source PAL output NTSC (this works pretty well all by itself). To get a really good sync, I demuxd both the PAL and the NTSC encodes and then combined the NTSC video and the PAL audio in 1 file. There is some loss of quality from the encoding of an encode but at least everything is in sync.

Now... this is a lot of information without knowing all the specifics of your problem. If this isn't the problem that you are having, I am sure there are other solutions around.

Curious as to how long you've had your APEX and how you like it - the first one I bought lost the sound after a month and I took it back and exchanged it for an identical one which lost all power after a week. Fortunately, Wal-Mart has a very liberal return/exchange policy and the Sanyo I settled on works great. They told me that more than half of the APEX's came back. What I really hated about APEX was that it said it was MP3 capable and it wasn't - this was before I did any experimentation with VCD/SVCD, so I don't even know if it could handle those.
