It looks to still be in the works. Our local ffdshow guru, celtic_druid is working on it. among others. You can check on the Doom9 forum for updates. One thread: http://forum.doom9.org/showthread.php?t=98600&page=36&pp=20

I released a build quite awhile ago. Think it was the last ffdshow revision. I am running a ffdshow-tryout build locally. Seems to be ok (including AVC decoding) and there were I think some revisions recently for x64 compatiblity, so I might provide another build if the ffdshow-tryout people don't release one. Fact is though that I am still not aware of any decent 64bit media players. Talking XP x64 here since I couldn't care less about Vista.

    Morning celtic,

So do you have to have an OS that is 64 bit windows or will it not matter ??
I mean, the majority of us do nothave 64 bit windows. Maybe W2K or XP xyz
(I just upgraded to XP Home, after many years of saying, I wouldn't)

Also, is there a way to tell what version/build I have installed ??

    Thanks,

It should matter, I imagine if you try to run a 64-bit program on a 32-bit Windows you'll end up getting a 'non recognizable' program error or something of the sort. And you shouldn't even get past the install load (if it starts at all), since any decent installer should check for an OS incompatibility (ie [not a programmer]): if OS=64bit, then go; if OS=32bit, halt).

Besides, what's the point, why try running something if your system is not compatible with it? Even if it somehow runs, I'd imagine you're going to run into errors somewhere along the line.

I was mearly curious. remember win95/win98, you have 16 bit and 32 bit apects, of
which I still don't understand in that realm, but I guess it doesn't matter, there.

I thought that when you read things like, "yada yada, it has 64 bit.." that the tool
itself is mechain-level (assembly code) faster, or something like that. Like SSE and MMX
code. You can have regular code and these (and more) code for optimize-level
performance. So with "..64 bit.." statements floating around, its easy for some to
get confused -- thinking that they (me) will get better/enhance performance

In the case of ffdshow due to libavcodec being compiled with MSVC instead of gcc performance should actually be worse.
