    1. I took an RMVB file and converted it to VOB with sothinkmovie DVD maker.

    2. I created a data DVD with NTI CD & DVD-maker 7 using the audio_TS and video_TS files.
(even though the audio_TS folder didn't have any files in it)

    3. I have used a DVD-/+R in the burning process and neither work on my stand alone player.

    4. Does anyone see a fatal flaw in my plan?

Try convert and burn with something else like ConvertXtoDVD, free trial that you can test. And make a NTSC DVD as your old player might have a problem with PAL DVDs.

That got the DVD on my stand alone player despite aspect ratio differences i can probably fix. I was wondering if the watermark came due to the converting or the burning. Cause i could burn with my own program to avoid that watermark. Do you know anyway to get around the watermark?

Yes. Burning a data DVD is dead wrong. You need to burn a DVD video disc. Having an empty AUDIO_TS directory is completely normal for DVD video. This directory is only used to make DVD Audio discs.

Your DVD player is older and appears to not work with DVD+R discs at all. Given it's age, I'd make a guess that it's probably fussy about DVD-R media too. Using good quality media would be helpful. Taiyo Yuden is the best, but you'll have to mail order it. If you want to use a good brand you can find in stores, buy Verbatim. Stick with DVD-R discs for best compatibility with your player.

I have never heard of the programs you used in steps 1 and 2 of your original message, so I have no idea what is causing the watermark. Consider using other programs.

ok, if you dont mind switching focus real quick

I just figured out that NTI will get the video on my stand alone DVD player if i clicked on DVD video_TS instead of data DVD. With that said, the entire picture is not on the screen and the video is choppy.
Video file is wide screen and the picture on the TV is coming up full screen. Is this a problem i would fix in the burning process or television?

ok, im out of ideas. I have the DVD-R playing on my stand alone DVD player and i change the aspect ratio on the television to 16:9, but the entire pictures still doesn't get on the screen. I opened the VOB in Windows Media Player and it said that the file was 16:9 so i dont know why the entire file is not fitting. Does anyone have any ideas?

    1. I burned a maxell DVD-R 4.7GB 16x 2hr sp mode disk in NTI CD & DVD maker.
