Go into device manager and delete the drive and the IDE channels, then reboot. When windows boots, it will redetect the IDE channels and the attached drives. If that doesn't work, then revert back to the original firmware that you saved during the upgrade as noted in the guide you referenced.

it does not detect the drive in the device manager this is why i cannot revert back to the original firmware. also is there a way you can change your user name? or would you just have to create a new account?

Is the drive still recognized by the bios? If it isn't, then it is toast, throw it away and buy a new. If it is recognized, then try deleting the IDE channels in device manager.

You can create as many accounts as you like, but you can't change the name of an account. You typically have to delete it and create a new one. If it is the admin account, it would be best to just leave it.

For the IDE channels, there should be a section in Device Manager labeled IDE ATA/ATAPI controllers (or similar). Just delete all of the devices listed there and reboot.

As for your account, I thought you were referring to your account on your pc. You will need to speak with a Mod about your account here...most likely you will need to create a new account and have the old one removed.

Like I stated in the very first post, just delete all of the IDE channels/controllers and reboot. Windows will boot, find the hardware, reinstall the IDE drivers, and redetect all of the attached drives.
