I would like to convert some files from various formats (mainly wmv, mov occasionally flv) to divx files...

When I was using XP this was achieved using SUPER - which seemed to work perfectly for me - however- I can't seem to get this to work on vista?

I've tried a few others - Xilisoft Video Converter, Kates Video converter etc - all seem to be buggy and have 'issues' with Xilisoft being the best so far - my trial has ran out and I googled it - it seems some people are unhappy with the way Xilisoft works and treats customers - so I'm a tad wary...

So - Can anyone reccomend a converter which works with vista? - Preferably free, or something thats under like $50???

    Thanks!

I'd have to install it and run again... I know it installs ok but did not convert properly - Ill have to have a closer look

for the record - the Kates Video Converter worked fine - but I could not find a way to convert multiple files - bit irritating doing them one at a time! - Xilisoft also worked - which makes me think I have the correct sys files for conversion to divx - but that super is a bit of an 'issue' at present.

Do you know if multiple files are possible with kates video converter?!

On Vista, SUPER has to be given admin rights to run properly. Right-click on the shortcut and select "Run as administrator". I think there's also a setting or two you can change in the shortcut properties so that you don't have to pick the above every time you want to run it, but I'm not sure what (I just started using Vista, myself.)

I'm not completely sure, but I think that over on the SUPER forums, they're also advocating turning off UAC. But, I'm not about to do that, yet.

Yer - I would also not really want to turn off UAC - especially considering some of the users of my pc are, hmm, not 'technically minded' shall we say

Ill try the run with admin and see what happens - thanks
