  1. after being on the root menu after a certain amount of time.Especially on the HD BD players where it would really suck to find out you accidently left a disc in for a few days and have all your optics burned out.

    Has this been a problem? Playback lasers are very weak.

    it doesn't seem to have affected my normal DVD player to be left on for a few days at a time (no standby mode, careless family). it's probably designed for a few years of continual use, let alone days.. don't worry about it.

  5. I've had five players that have had their optics burned out because of this(DVD players)
    the problem is that they get left on the root menu for a few days then the drive fails to read any disc,the drive spins up ok but the disc won't play.
