I'm trying to convert some old movies from VHS to DVD and also creating DVDs from old movies I capture with DirecTV DVR. Most DVR files work ok, but recently I began losing audio in the captured file itself. So if I capture a VHS movie, the picture is fine, but about 7 minutes into viewing the movie, the sound disappears. Have tried different PC viewers and home DVD players. Same result. Very frustrating.

I've tried a couple of file retrieval and audio splitting softwares, but they didn't work. Please share with me the secret to converting the VHS to DVD without losing the audio. I've already noted in some posts disdain for the ADS DVDXpressDX2 and the CapWiz software that comes with it. Personally I like it because it's simple for me.....and let's face it, it's cheaper.

I hope someone can afford the time to share their wisdom with me about my dilemma. Thanks in advance.....jb
