Question - would something like this usb a-a coupler allow a mp3 player to stream off a usb harddrive?:

So I've seen these online for just a few dollars. These seem to allow two usb devices to connect directly. Would these allow a mp3 player to stream off a usb harddrive? I envision plugging the mp3 player into one end and the usb harddrive into the other.

Would this work? Or would this simply allow for an extension of a usb cable?

    Maybe, assuming
    1) that it actually works as advertised
    2) the MP3 player can see the hard drive and is capable of accessing content on it.

I guess there might be some chance that this could be used to bridge 2 USB cables, but whatever this device is used for, I can't imagine that there's much demand for it.

Well it doesn't seem like it would be a big gamble. If I see one in a store for less than 10.00 I'll try to pick it up.

It would be interesting if Belkin carries one for user reviews.

  4. You need something to be a USB HOSt controller, almost always that will be your computer..SOme small few other devices can act as a USb host and allow upload and dlownload of files. Not this tho.. its just a cable extender.
