  1. I'm new to the forum and I'm sorry if someone asked this question already. but i was wondering if there is a better way to convert a progressive video that runs at 29.97 fps to 23.976 without the jerky effect.
What I would usually do is to use virtualdub's resize filter, then type in the original width and height of the video, and check the "Interlaced" checkbox so that when i use the "reconstruct from fields" option in the inverse telecine feature, i would get an output video at 23.976 (perfect for SmartMovie 3.25) without losing the fluidity of the video.

It plays perfectly on a nokia 6680 and the fluidity isn't lost, but is there any expert here who knows a better solution because it doesn't seem to work on progressive mpeg2's in VirtualDubMod.

mpeg2 cannot be resized to 640*416

that is NOT an mpeg2 format, for that size it has to be converted to another format such as avi or mp4

what is the output container of the final file, the one you will play on your device ?

    avi. mp4. mkv ?

    try Super for the conversion,

choose your container, codec ,bitrate ,audio format, screen res,

    and convert with super

    416 is an odd size

super even has ipod setups installed

sori for the late reply. The video w/ a resolution of 640x416 i used, when i opened it in Gspot, it detected it as an mpeg2... is it wrong? I would convert it to an avi using VirtualDubMod (through the method i mentioned above... but it doesnt seem to convert the file into a 23.976 without losing the fluidity of the video).. but i'll try "Super" thanks! .. it would be nice if there were some converter that can change the 29.97 framerate of any video to a 23.976 without the loss of fluidity. is there any?

Ain't it easier to get a windows mobile based phone and play anything as is - without conversions, recoding, resizing, etc etc? ...

My condolences ages ago when i used to use dumbphones there was very simple tool called "mpegable". I had 350 and 175mb xvid episodes converted with it to less than 3mb each (coz thats how much space i had on my dumbphone) and they were all looking fine on a phone's screen I saw entire last season of friends that way in .3gp format at school hehe Cartoon look best that way, but if you 'squeeze' half hour shows (instead of 1hr episodes) they'll look fine too, it all depends how big is the resolution of your phone...
There was my guide how to perfectly convert anything to .3gp playable on any modern dumbphone when we were still dvdhelp.com, but unfortunately Baldrick managed to delete pictures for my guide, and i didnt have a dumbphones anymore, hence the guide without pics was useless and i deleted it... youre just 3 or 4 years too late

  7. never really liked 3gp though. i'd prefer converting a video in virtualdub to a divx then use SmartMovie to play it on a nokia phone... the performance is satisfying but it isn't perfect because it was really made to play videos at 23.976fps.
