Would anyone happen to know where I could buy a new, factory sealed copy on DVD? Thank you.

You can't. It's never been commercially released on DVD, and probably never will, since Lucas wants people to see it as much as he wants people to see the Star Wars Holiday Special.
FWIW, I bought a copy off of ebay. -
driguy how did you buy a copy off ebay if it is not available? I heard it was released in other countries such as Austraila, but not US, maybe other countries as well, just trying to see if this is true, if so I would like to buy a copy regardless of region as long as the movie is in english.

"New, factory sealed" implies a legal release and to my knowledge, Howard the Duck has never been released on DVD in the US.
You could do a google search to see if there's a European release.
EDIT: I know there's a laserdisc release of HTD because I saw a copy for sale for $5 at a video place last Christmas. I remember thinking, "I can't believe anybody would pay money for a copy of this movie." -
Did google search, no results really, guess you are right, not available.
Thank You,

Nteflix has it. Now you can watch it with your lea Thompson action figure. -

You could always buy a VHS copy and capture/convert it to DVD.
Even a broken clock is right twice a day. -
IMDB shows both DVD and VHS available.
ASIN: B000FEVTRO
amazon.com shows the DVD available. -

Although to be honest I did see this movie ... in the theater.Yes, in the theater. Though I hope I'm absolved of some degree of shame due to the fact I worked for the theaters when this was playing and I think I saw every movie ever released, no matter the source or rating, if it played at our theater. What can I say, free passes trump all. :P
That being said, read more of the fine-print on this "DVD release" and note: Rare All Region DVD, Import, which, I would surmise, does lend some credence to the idea that this might be a ... oh, what's the word ... something along the lines of "boot" or "leg" or similar ......
Or maybe it's a French release, I've seen stranger things out there. :P -
Howard the Duck to this day has NEVER been officially released on dvd.
I do own the LD though.
And i own a ton of diff. version's of the original "Star Wars" on PRESSED dvd's, not recordable's, PRESSED dvd's, from years and years before they were officially released, does not mean they were officially or legally released by george lucas 8) -
Life is like a pothole, you just have to learn to get around it.

Thanks everyone for your replies. By the way supposedly Universal Pictures did release this dvd in Brazil, but I do not know if this is true or not, just what I heard. Have a great day.

I just transfered my LD to dvd years ago & have seen other Brazil release only dvd's that i know for a fact were never officially released and they were some of the worst quality video ever, i was amazed anyone put that low of quality onto pressed dvd's, i've done VHS transfer's that were way better.
Just because something is on pressed media does not mean it's officially/legally released or good quality. -

A legitimate release from a country other than china. I may have to buy a copy... -
Hate to admit it, but I was looking for Howard the Duck for a long time too. I own the VHS but quality is lacking and of course, it's fullscreen..aaargh! Finally found a good 16x9 widescreen version of it and am satisfied for the time being.. google is your friend. I guess it's more 'nostalgia' than anything with the movie for me. Wish Lucass would release it on DVD with extras, etc. I'm just very happy with the upcoming release of Blade Runner definitive cut.. but won't hold my breath..
