motor noise from the video-drum and mechanics can be very inconsistant.
Thats why removing it whole will be tricky.
Then again you CAN get good results with (what I know how to use) cooledit or now "Adobe Audition."
The standard functions in AA are sufficient for this task. If you know how to remove pink noise
etc. from songs, then this works the same way.
I know motor sound has a 'ticking sound' wich is not really constant, still you can get good results.
Finding out what the best settings are per/tape do need experimenting tho..
good luck! -
Goldwave, SoundForge, Audition
But there is not a magic "remove motor noise" button. It'll take quite a bit of effort, experience and skill. And you may never be able to fully remove it. Just be aware of that.Want my help? Ask here! (not via PM!)

Try www.wrigleyvideo.com. They have a great tutorial under Audition.

Adobe Audition is great for this job, hints for noise reduction you'll find at my audio page. Magix has a good cleanig product as well, easy to use but it doesn't tell you much about its internal procedures.

Note: with most of these products, it's better to do a couple of passes of less processing each rather than 1 pass of lots of processing (kind of like planing a piece of wood or peeling an onion). Plus, use a couple of different kinds of tools-this sound isn't monolithic, so one tool won't completely cover it (unless you had a "ANTI-CAMERANOISE" filter).
