Hello. I'm having difficulties trying to get the exact settings right for MegUI to encode my Video into H264. I was previously using a program called RealAnime but its so frigging slow on my power house machine. It was using 100% of my vid card power and CPU power and only encoding at 5FPS. What I'd like to know is how to achieve the Best Video Quality Image settings in RealAnime in a program like MegUI. If anyone can help that'd be great!

From what I've heard, h264 encoding is extremely slow, even on the fastest hardware. Your "vid card" isn't involved in the process at all, and any encoder that didn't try for 100% CPU isn't worth looking at.

Thanks. Now I know just to be patient and continue using RealAnime. I was just hoping I could achieve the same image quality settings with another faster H264 encoder. MegUI encodes H264 at 20FPS on my machine. Which is still slow but its faster than RealAnime. Thanks for the message.

They both use the same encoder: x264.

If you can add --threads auto to the x264 command line, your encoding performance will absolutely benefit (provided you have a multi-core-thread-etc processor).

    Hi,
Soopafresh is right, you can change your thread settings in your profiles in MeGUI, what problems are you having with MeGUI in particular? I use it quite a bit for H.264 encoding for iPod use and find the quality to be phenomenal. Post back if you want more help.

@Mats - x264 encodes at about the same fps as XviD, H.264 (ie ffmpeg) is a bit slower but not terribly so. x264 is continually being revised and optimized and with multi-thread support just keeps getting faster.

Well, the problem I'm having is trying to get really good video quality out of the smaller bitrates. Like you know how in some H264 Encoders there are Three Levels Of Video Quality which are normally Normal Best and Better. I'd like to know how to achieve the Better Video Quality Setting in MEG UI. When i encode video with my current settings it goes all blocky everywhere all the time and looks crappy. How do I maintain a clean video?
