I bought a MCE PC not too long ago, and I wanted to burn some of the TV shows onto DVD, and I have a feature within the MCE program to do that, but when I try to use that option on some recorded shows, it tells me that it can't because the show is copy protected. Does anybody know of any good software programs (freeware or shareware) that can get past the copy protection and convert the DVr-MS file to a good quality AVI or WMV file? I have tried some programs, like Pinnacle Studio 10.5, Digital Media Converter, and DVR-MS Toolbox.

Any help at all would be greatly appreciated.

    Thank you.

  3. I'm using WinDVDcreator that came with my HP Media Center PC, after selecting the dvr-ms file, and editing it, go to tools menu and select "write to file". This will convert it to mpg2. After that you can compress it with Dvix or Xvid to reduce file size. Works good for me. Hope that helps. You can also burn to DVD using WinDVDcreator.

    Please Note:
Keep in mind these files should be used for your personal use only. In other words for your system only. Sharing these files with others is breaking copyright laws.
