  1. Hi, well, I need a new solution for capturing from VCR to the computer, is this worthwhile?

    Plextor PX-M402U USB 2.0 Real-Time Digital Video Converter

    Tiger is selling it for $50 after rebate.

    I sledom need anything other than good quality mpeg2 when recording frm a VCR as mostly I ma converting clips to use in other projects.

    I was hoping to hold out for a PCI or a firewire solution, but this seems like a good price.

    I do have a ATI theater pro 550 pci card I acquired but I have never been able to get it to work right, even worse with Vista.

    Opinions please...

  3. Thanks MJA, this one doesn't do any encoding on the fly though, of course for the price it doesn't matter. A little more investigation shows that it has limited compabtability including no XP support.
