  1. I am considering buying a refurb JVC DRM-100S unit from ecost.
Hard to pass up, considering ecost is selling this model for $59 + ship -- for the next 24 hours!

Will this unit record on 4x DVD-RW media?

As many of you know, the Sony RDR-GX7, for one, does not.
And finding 2x dvd-rw media is getting harder every day.

And then for cleaning/filtering VHS, I have the JVC units without HDD, and you can find them under $100 right now online from ecost.

So you can get two units for less than the ones you're looking at, and get the best of both worlds still. Potentially, at least.

  2. Seems I have answered my own question.
I just received my jvc dr-m100s from ecost today.
The $59 price was too tempting to pass on.

It does indeed record on Office Depot (Ritek W04) 4x dvd-rw media.
The oper manual confirms it even records on 6x -rw media.

For those interested, these refurbs look brand new.
    Manuf Date is Feb 2005.

  3. That was the month they were introduced.

Quite a deal considering they sell the older M10S for $2 less.

  4. My inital impression is that this refurb unit's PQ at FR180 (3 hr) approaches
Liteon 5005 SP quality ...when the TV signal is first "preprocessed" through a Studio 1
Productions proc amp and a Vidicraft Detailer II.

For those interested, the proc amp and detailer were purchased off eBay recently,
    for "pennies on the dollar".

I can understand why Lordsmurf and gshelley61 recommend the jvc dr-m100s.

  5. Have many videohelp forum members purchased a $59 refurb unit from ecost?

If so, what are your initial impressions of this unit?
