    How is the performance of this player when a DVD+R DL disc is inserted? I will be using DVD+R DL discs in the future, so I hope this is a good DVD player to purchase for that purpose.

    check the dvd player list.I have the 981 and it is the best player i've seen so far.

    I have no issues with DL discs on the older 971, so I wouldn't expect any of the other models to have any issues with DL either. Most DL issues that I have seen are with older units or they are simple media related issues.

    It's excellent w/ Verb +R DL's and also Philips +R DL's (CMC 8X burned at 4X), no pause at all at the layer change. An excellent player, and will upconvert pressed discs via component with a modded firmware.
