TV volume control
Does some one know of any add on equipment (processor etc.) that will compress or control the volume level of the TV sound output.
Like the jump in sound level of TV commercials.
AND level out the sound level between quite passages (whisper) and action (blaringly loud)

Welcome to the forums, pogo42
I have a cheap Magnavox in a bedroom that has it built-in. With it on I can hear a lowering of the overall sound on all audio but I cant really tell if it does all that much or not.
My HT room receiver has one you can switch on but honestly I have never used it because I like my dynamic range. Cant remember exactly what it's called cause each brand uses it's own name to define it.
I found this and it may or may not help but it's a short read.

Hope it helps or gives you an idea for further research.
Also this may help give you hope at least.
"Help is on the way! Last month Dolby Laboratories announced it has developed technology to level out the sound differences that take place during shows and between TV programs and commercials. You pick the volume you like and the Dolby software will make the adjustments in real time automatically."
Dolby Volume could show up in some TV sets by the end of this year or early next year.
Good luck,
NL
