Using a combination DVD VCR player a friend converted a VHS tape for me to a DVD. The DVD works perfectly in any play DVD player. Now I would like to be able to take the DVD and add transitions titles etc.. Since programs like Pinnacle Studio cannot import the files from a DVD am I correct that I have to convert my DVD to a MPEG file before I can do any title or transition adding in such programs as Pinnacle Studio. After I have added my titles and transitions am I correct that I them need to burn it back as a DVD.

I am aware Pinnacle Studio can burn a DVD. However my real question was in order to get the DVD into a format that pinnacle studio will accept do I need to convert the DVD to MPEG first?

Get Womble Mpeg Video Wizard DVD. That one will let you import VOBs and do transition and so on. It will only re encode what is necessary at the end.

Or convert the dvd to one mpg with vob2mpg and try import in pinnacle.

But mpeg video wizard would be a better solution.
