I would currently advise "None of the released models". Although HD DVD itself supports 1080p, I haven't seen a single player that supports 1080p yet. Support for other formats appears to be very limited right now. For example, don't expect to play VCD/SVCD/MP3/Divx on an HD DVD player. I'd love to buy an HD DVD player, but I'm holding off until the players support more formats. An ability to play raw HD files in MPEG and Divx format would be ideal. If I had to buy one, I'd probably go for a Toshiba model. You don't have many choices. To date, I seem to recall that only one other company has produced an HD DVD player, but there should be more manufacturers later this year.

All HD DVD discs are region free by design. This is one of the ways that Toshiba is trying to make the format take off - buy an HD DVD disc anywhere and play it anywhere.

    Simple questions:

What are you trying to play? Which HD formats?
What is your display? Be specific.

    Thanks jman98
I think I will wait for the multi format HD players to take off.One thing I noticed is
that all of them seem to half the cost of blue ray players.Which is very big plus for me.Because
I think the price will termine the winner.Fingers crossed hope its going to be HD rather than blue ray.Due to fact that I hate anything that sony has to with.(ROOT KIT SARGA).Plus why do
we in the UK have to more for sony sh*t.Ive been told by my friends in retail that there is always between 25% to 35% loading on the price purly becauce dumb people think that it must be better than rest.Anyway sorry about that lost it a bit.

    Cheers Nicebud
