I have a 32 inch LCD TV that I used as my main TV in my home but no longer need it for that purpose. This TV has an HDMI input on it. Since I no longer need to use it as my TV, I wanted to use it as my PC monitor. My PC has DVI output and the LCD TV has HDMI input. I bought a DVI-HDMI converter/adapter at the store to hook these two together. Problem is when I hooked it up to the PC, I got no picture. I know DVI & HDMI are compatible so why can't I get a picture on the LCD TV this way? Anyone?

Port hardware spec and accepted display formats are separate issues.
Read the TV specs. Usually it wants to see 480i/480p/720p/1080i on the HDMI port. You need a PC card capable of digital video output. A separate issue, expect 5-10% overscan on video ports.
Some TV sets will accept VESA resolutions (e.g. 640x480, 800x600, 1024x768, 1280x768, etc.) Others require use of the VGA port for Vesa (standard and wide format) computer display.Recommends: Kiva.org - Loans that change lives.
