I converted my dvd to mpeg2 with VOB2MG.
When I play the file with wm, the sound plays fine.

But if I open the mepg2 file with Vegas, there is no sound on the track, only the video.

    what should I do ?

open it in g-spot to see what the audio format is.

Make sure you are running the latest version of Vegas 5.

Worst case, demux the audio and video with Rejig, convert the audio to uncompressed PCM and use that instead.

  3. What guns1inger said, and the reason you'd want to convert the audio to PCM, is because Vegas probably doesn't support AC3 sound (if that is what the original VOB audio is).

Vegas 6 and 7 will, and will take VOBs directly from DVD cameras (although not always so good with commercial VOBs - too much extraneous information in them). 5 might be too old to do it reliably.

I just right-click on the file and choose "Open With -> G-Spot" from the menu. You may have to browse for g-spot the first time you try this. Otherwise, just start up g=spot then open the file

G-spot says your audio is AC3, so use ffmpeggui to convert it to wav (uncompressed PCM) and use this instead.

Please read the responses you get carefully, as it has all been explained.

All G-spot does is tell you what type of video and audio you have. In this case it confirms you have Ac3 audio. That is all g-spot does.

Now you have to demux the audio from the mpeg - Rijig can do this - and use ffmepggui to convert to PCM.
