I purchased a Toshiba SD4000 a couple of weeks ago. I use the digital out for audio. About an hour into every movie , the audio and video seems to go out of sync. I exchanged this unit thinking it was defective. Same problem. When using an SD3990 Toshiba, no problem.
    Any suggestions?

Assuming you are referring to original pressed discs, audio issues are usually consistent throughout the disc (at least in my experience). Some dvd players allow you to adjust audio delay in the audio setup, but if the problem isn't constant throughout the whole disc, it won't help.

Do you know if this player can play all region discs (R1,R2,R3,etc.) Has anyone actually tried playing an R2,R3,R4,R5 disc? The previous model SD-3990 had a region-free code you could enter in and it would unlock the player. Do you or anyone know if the SD-4000 has such a code? Thanks, from a concerned SD-4000 owner.

Glad to hear the comment on audio drift experienced with the SD4000 digital audio signal. The exact same phenomenon has plagued me and I've had a horrible time trying to identify the source as I only began using the digital coax out when I recent purchased a surround reciever.

I purchased the SD3990 in June 2006 and have had to exchange it twice since, always for video playback issues. Each time the player would eventually be unable to read even prestine discs with out breakup/skippping or simply failing to load them. This last time (2nd replacement/3rd machine) Toshiba sent back the SD4000. I had just purchased a surround reciever and began using the digital coax out. This led me to the drift discovery. Needless to say Toshiba has proved a disappointment.

Are there a lot of us out there with this AUDIO DRIFT/SYNC problemon the SD4000?
