    Intel Core2 2.13GHz
    1GB RAM
    ATI Radeon 1650 series

    CCE 2.70.02.10
    AviSynth 2.5.6
    XVid 1.1.2

I use avisynth scripts. Drag n drop on CCE. Worked fine for some encodings. Now it freezes at a random point. Tried several .avi's....

    any clues??

    thanks.

I've had this problem too. One thing I did was to run CCE in real time and on an older PC, it totally stopped this problem. Start cctspd (or whatever the CCE excutable is called - that's close to the real name I think) and then start the Task Manager. Right click on the program and you will see an option for Set Priority. Change the priority to Realtime.

However, I have an new PC with an AMD 3200+ CPU and 2 GB of RAM and CCE will still freeze on this system if I run it in Realtime. I decided that maybe what was happening is that CCE freezes if my CPU is too hot. I have better luck running encodes at night when the temperatures are lower.

Nobody seems to know why CCE freezes on some systems. Do nothing on your PC when you use CCE. CCE uses almost 100% of your CPU and if you are trying to do anything else on the PC while you use it, it will cause problems.

    thanks so much dude!

one more thing: when i say freezes, i mean it just stops. I can still click "cancel"... I mean program IS responding.... but encoding freezes!

When it happens to me, my PC completely locks up and it requires that the power be re-cycled. You're better off than me. Since your entire PC isn't freezing, maybe the Realtime priority fix will work for you.

Are you using CCE to encode the audio ?

If so, try turning this off, and changing your avisynth file to stop passing audio through (audio=false in your avisource/directshowsource statement). CCE isn't a great audio encoder, and gets very twichy about some audio, even when passed by avisynth.
