I have a hp brand tv tuner for my laptop
It has the option of using a/v input, which is meant to be used with a digital cable box. However, I'm wondering if it's possible to hook up a gaming system to it. I managed to get my PS2 hooked up to it, and the image shows in Windows Media Center. However, there is a horrible lag. I press something and don't see a responce for about 3-5 seconds. This would make 90+ % of games horribly impossible to play. Is there perhaps another program I could use that would perhaps have a faster responce time, maybe even no lag?

I used to sometimes hook my ps2 up to my portable dvd player to use that as a screen. but the screen on my laptop is so much bigger... it'd be great to be able to play (console) games on it.

i tried HP QuickPlay (which i think isnt that great anyway), and it couldnt even see the signal from the a/v input.

EDIT: Okay, right after i made this post, i remembered that Media Player Classic is actually able to make use of my tv tuner. The timing is MUCH better than media center, but i'm still not sure it's perfect. Hmm. I wonder if this is partly a hardware issue...

External USB2 tuners usually encode to MPeg2 in hardware so go reasonably fast imported to a display overlay. If this HP one software encodes lag will be much greater. Both options will have significant lag for game play. Minimum possible is probably a field (17msec) to a frame (33msec).
