  1. Hi all,
Can anyone tell me why SVCDs made with vcdimager 6 allow timesearch on my dvd player, but if i do the same disc using xml it won't (I'm not talking about entrypoints here).

I /think/ it's to do with pbc, but is there an element or option that should be set that allows this.

  2. Timesearch requires that PBC mode be turned off. If your S/VCD doesn't have PBC this won't be a problem.

Even if your S/VCD does have PBC, some players will automatically turn off PBC (thus ending menu/chapter/etc. interpretation) if you do a time search.

VCDImager 0.7.x branch if you are using XML will most likely be putting PBC related data on your S/VCD. Remember, you MUST use PBC for menus and the like.

If you want, you can disable PBC in the XML by simply not adding any PBC related data (i.e., don't put anything within the <pbc> and </pbc> tags -- but this means you won't be able to create any menus.

    Regards.

  3. Hi thanks for the reply,

    it's very plausable.
however, I used to be able to run IAuthor (won't run these days)
and i could use menus and time search.

kinda throws the pbc theory out of the window.
Also, vcdimager classic creates a dummy pbc does it not?

    Cheers

  4. I'm not sure what the problem is then... If you post to the VCDImager forum: http://forums.vcdimager.org then perhaps someone there (e.g., hvr) will be able to help you.

Uh....My Apex lets me do a timesearch with the PBC on, so I don't think that is the problem....may be specific players have a problem with it....

  6. I agree, it could be a hardware specific thing...

When I say timesearch, I mean punching a button and then entering say 30:00 for 30 min... On both my players, this causes PBC to be turned off... but I suppose it is possible for some firmwares to handle it without this being so.

Thanks for the info... and we are talking about the same thing for "time search" aren't we?

    Regards.
