  1. well i didnt have my powerbook for 1 1/2 year and i forgot so many things on my mac .. anyways i had some m2t. files and i read some of the post and its great , very helpful ..

    question: should i convert the m2t files using mpegstreamclip and using the 3vix option or the h264 option ?

    i keep getting a bad qulity picture ... if its a 152mb i get a 48mb after i convert it

    hopefully someone can direct me in the right way ..

    Both 3ivx/divx/xvid and h264 are very capable codecs. Don't forget that the codec type is only one of several factors that influence quality. Bitrate matters, and so does resolution. If you're seeing macroblock artifacts when objects move, your bitrate is too low to keep up. If the picture looks crummy even when nothing's moving around on screen, your resolution is too low. Crank up one or both and your quality should improve. Yes, filesize will increase, too, but there's no getting around that. Can't have high quality and arbitrarily low bitrate.

    As a very rough guide, divx at a megabit per second looks very good. If you're using much lower bitrates, that's your problem.
