Looking for at these three Epson printers I can't seem to find any differences, other than the R300 has more features like a front usb port and a lcd screen.

It that all the differerence between them?

  2. I bought a refurbished Epson R340 from Epson website for $100. The flash card slots in the front work really good for uploading pictures from my digicam into the computer. The printer works great. Uses the same ink cartridges as the R220 and R320. I believe you can get OEM cartridges for it but I haven't run out of ink yet. No complaints here.

    I have the r230 .

Just check around for what's called a "cartridge chip resetter" ... it's available for the epson's so you can keep refilling them ... and make sure the model you want is covered .

You might want to check this out before making the final decision : http://www.inksupply.com/chipreset.cfm (very handy this) .

Doesn't it work with compatible cartridges striaght away.

I'm using a Epson C86 at the moment and it didn't need a chip setter.

The chip resetter is NEEDED for sure for those of us that do not want our projects screeching to a halt because Epson says one ink cart is out when you know you are not even using that color on this project. So regardless if you use CSS ink systems, you need the resetter.

But I found this place selling the same thing a little cheaper, only 7.99 plus shipping, came to uner 14 bucks shipped. Get one before you are required to buy another not needed ink cart.

Meritline sells C&C cartridges for Epson very cheaply. Their sales on bundles often comes down to about $2.00 a cartridge, much more convenient than refills.

C&C ink is so good, HP is suing them for patent infringment.

I noticed the r200 isn't on this list... yeah, it's older, but I still hear good things about it, as a reliable DVD printer workhorse. Any significant difference between the 200 and the 220 on this use? I'm looking to purchase one or the other on ebay cheaply and did some searching, but the only thing I saw that could be any different (rumored) is that the CD tray mechanism and ink jets for the 220 are improved? Any confirmation on this?

My R200 died last week .... this model is no longer made by epsom (niether is the R220) .... the only difference between the r200 and r220 is that epson modified the cd printing tray (it used to stick somewhat in some r200's).

Anyway ... after failing to find another R200/220 (i have a ciss and wanted to continue using it) i decided to go with the R265 (the R340 was too expensive) .... its much faster than the r200/220 and the cd/dvd printing is much easier to use (and the tray is much shorter too) unfortunately is does use different carts to the 200/220/340 so my ciss is now useless but compatible carts are available and a ciss is on the way (so i'm told). Also it has a front usb port for conecting directly to a digital camera that supports pictbridge ... allowing you to print photo's directly from the camera without having to have the pc switched on .... and this printer is reasonably priced .... i got mine here in the uk from pc world for £49.99 and also got a free three years warranty worth £9.99 (it was a one day managers special offer)

Printouts look good on the R265 on plain paper and on cd/dvd's but i haven't yet tried it with photo paper

So this seems to be the main difference... Anybody had any issues with frequently clogging inkjects on either?

Yup .... but clogging inkjets is a problem with most inkjet printers ... a quick clean usually sorts it
