    Hi All,

Mayhap someone can help me with this I have a Pioneer DVR110 which was purchased in an external housing I could never get full burning speed out of it so I decided to update the firmware. This I did (I cant remember the firmware version) anyway this didn't help as I was still getting burn speeds of 1.2x using Verbatim 8xDVD-R. I heard somewhere that it maybe because of it being an external drive so I pulled it out and installed via the ide in my PC and have updated the firmware to 1.44 and I am still getting speeds of 1.2x. Pioneer dont bother responding so does anyone have any ideas?

    Thx

  2. Modern Pioneer drives (108-109-110-111-112) all utilize udma-4. To troubleshoot the internal setup please try the following:
    1. Insure you have an 80 conductor/40 pin ide cable.
    2. Make sure the drive is jumpered as master (probably is if it was unchanged from the external setup).
    3. Go into control panel - system - hardware - devices and delete the ide channel being used and reboot allowing the system to rediscover the channel and the drive.

Retest a burn and let us know if that helps. Good luck.

I actually have it as a secondary drive and on cable select, I have since been told that this could be the problem. I will switch it over to slave tonight and let you guys know how it went.

Update: The switch between cable select and slave did nothing, i as tried what OneSicPup said, nothing, this is the crappiest drive ever, I have heard of many problems with the 110 now I see all the hype is true.

I have 2 Pioneer 110-Ds flashed to 110s in external cases. I love them. I have a spare in the shipping box for when one of these go bad.

Every company can make a bad unit and that's what it sounds like you have. My Pioneer DVR-110D has been the best burner I've ever owned. I've shifted it from internal to external; etc, etc. Always flawless burns. Have you had it too long to RMA? Just sounds like a flawed unit to me.
